    JOB DESCRIPTION
The responsibilities and expected outcomes of a Key Stage 1 Teacher at Kerridale Prep School will be to:
    Knowledge and Skills
1.      1.    Possess good communication skills and be willing to adapt to the demands of an international school.
2.      2.   Be willing to participate fully in the school and in particular help to develop the team spirit within the school.
3.      3.   Satisfy student needs in academic and pastoral matters.
4.      4.   Teach mixed culture and ability classes using a variety of styles to create appropriate learning opportunities for all students.
5.      5.    Operate as an effective team member who listens to and respects the views and values of others, be they students, staff or parents.
 Responsibilities

1.      1.    Be an effective, compassionate and caring teacher responsible for the planning, teaching and learning, assessment and pastoral well being of the children in the class and school as a whole.
2.      2.   Implement School’s policies and plans.
3.      3.   Liaise with the Head of School, Curriculum Co-ordinator, Specialist Teachers and Subject Leaders to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum to specified classes.
4.      4.   Participate in the design, development, implementation and review of the different curricula and schemes of work in the Preparatory School.
5.      5.    Complete long, medium and short-term plans as required for each subject/year group.
6.      6.   Participate in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of assessment and reporting systems for School pupils. Collate assessment data as required and ensure that it is used to enhance the learning of your students.
7.      7.   Use a variety of different teaching styles that cater for the individual learning styles of each pupil.
8.      8.   Ensure the discipline and safety of assigned classes.
9.      9.   To take part in CPD and other  in-service training for staff..
10.   10.                  Be fully aware of the pastoral and medical needs of all children in your care; this involves reading each student’s medical records and school file.
15.Contribute to the development of a positive attitude between the School and the wider community through cooperative relations, publications and competitions. On occasion this will require attendance at after-school events such as fetes, fund raising events etc.
 Essential requirements:
1.      1.   A well qualified Graduate.
2.      2.   Has a relevant teaching qualification.
3.      3.   Have an excellent track record of teaching and learning.
4.      4.   Be dedicated to excellence in education.
5.      5.   Have recent and relevant experience of the English National Curriculum or Early Years Foundation Stage.
6.      6.   Have the ability to lead, inspire and motivate staff and pupils alike.
7.      7.   Have an understanding and/or experience of working in an international setting in a developing country.
11.Works collaboratively and supportively with colleagues within the school.
1.      12.                  Have the ability to ensure good pupil progress through an effective Assessment for Learning cycle.
2.      13.                  Has knowledge of child development.
3.      14.                  Is willing to work within the school procedures, processes and to meet required standards for the role.
15.Is committed to continual personal and professional development. Is reflective and learns from past experience.
1.      16.                  Have an interest in innovating with ICT, competent in the use of ICT and software/hardware based teaching resources.
2.      17.                  Be highly motivated, enthusiastic and an exceptional communicator.
  Desirable criteria:
1.      1.    At least three years of post qualification experience using an international curriculum such as IPC, England NC, Cambridge or PYP; and Experience of teaching in international settings.
2.      2.   Conscientious, committed, resilient, imaginative, flexible and a lifelong learner.
3.      3.   Willing to share expertise and grow with the school.
4.      4.   Is resilient and demonstrates ability to work well under pressure. Manages time effectively, good administrator and record keeper.
5.      5.    Preferably UK trained with up to date experience of teaching the National Curriculum.

Kerridale Preparatory School is a relatively new school and has been in operation for 4 years; Using England’s EYFS Framework we have grown into a culture were children learn by doing hence our slogan ‘knowledge at play’. In September 2014 KPS would be opening Key Stage 1;
